Smoke & Felt Tapped for Worldwide Live Stream with Progressive International

Progressive International, the worldwide group dedicated to uniting, organizing, and mobilizing progressive voices around the world, will be hosting a special live stream event with Canadian NDP MP Niki Ashton and former leader of the British Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn. Scheduled for next month, the conversation between the two progressive politicians will centre on building solidarity and offering a principled vision for the future.

Smoke & Felt will be partnering with Ashton and her office to build the infrastructure for the event, as well as promote it to a global audience on behalf of Progressive International and deliver the live broadcast.

“We couldn’t be more excited to once again be working with Niki Ashton, as well as Jeremy Corbyn and their staff to bring this wonderful event to a worldwide audience,” said Matt Dusenbury, the founder of S&F. “Both she and Jeremy have connected with millions all over the world for their push for progressive ideals. I’m thrilled S&F will play a key role in continuing to push for those ideals alongside Progressive International.

Progressive International was founded in 2020 following a call from the Sanders Institute and Democracy in Europe Movement (DiEM25) for progressive forces to form a common initiative. In addition to Ashton and Cotbyn, the organization counts among its Council members Noam Chomsky, Cornell West, Yanis Varoufakis, and Canadians Avi Lewis and Naomi Klein. Its vision calls for a world that is democratic, just, and solidaristic.

With a mandate to build international solidarity among progressive voices, the live stream, set to take place on Saturday, March 20 at 1 pm (ET), will be the first to speak directly to Canadian and British audiences.

“The system is broken,” said Ashton in a post alongside the event announcement, “but it doesn’t have to be this way. “As progressives, we must find ways to build solidarity here at home and around the world, work with movements and activists who share our values and put forward an unapologetically bold vision for our collective future.”

S&F will be at the centre of the endeavour, working with both Ashton and Corbyn as well as their respective staff members and Progressive International to ensure the representatives have the opportunity to share their bold vision with the audience, and connect with the public before, during, and after the event.

“Niki and Jeremy are some of the leading progressive voices we have today,” said Dusenbury. “Already we are seeing tremendous excitement for this stream from across Canada and across the world. “Smoke & Felt is ready to help bring this conversation between these two leading voices to an international audience.”

Tickets for the event are pay-what-you-can with funds going directly to Progressive International. They are available for purchase here.
