Elementary Teachers of Toronto Signs with Smoke & Felt for Federation Day 2022 Outreach
(TORONTO, ONTARIO) – Smoke & Felt is thrilled to partner with the Elementary Teachers of Toronto to develop its press conference during Federation Day on December 2, 2022. S&F will work with the Local to arrange and manage its media relations during the day-long conference as it welcomes its more than 11,000 members to the day-long conference at the Westin Harbour Castle in downtown Toronto.
“I’m thrilled that the Elementary Teachers of Toronto has once again chosen to partner with Smoke & Felt for this exciting event,” said Matt Dusenbury, founder of the creative communications firm. “Federation Day is a unique opportunity for ETT to spread its message, and I look forward to working together to make it happen.”
Federation Day is a time where teachers are released to attend ETT organized professional development activities. This will be the first such day held since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and will feature a hybrid-style structure.
The theme of this year’s Federation Day is “Standing Strong for the Schools Our Students Deserve”, with guest speakers including the Honourable Murray Sinclair, Catherine Hernandez, Ricardo Tranjan and the new leader of the Ontario NDP, Marit Stiles. The day’s program will also feature entertainment from Shane Koyczan and Shakura S’Aida.
“The Ford government’s deliberate abandonment in the face of an ongoing pandemic and skyrocketing cost of living is criminal,” said Helen Victoros, President of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto. “We are facing challenging times in our schools and in our broader communities.”
“Although these are challenging times, this is a powerful moment underway,” she added.
Smoke & Felt will work closely with ETT to develop and manage its media relations throughout Federation Day 2022, culminating in a press conference. Featuring a strong slate of speakers, including ETT President Helen Victoros and front-line teachers, ETT will call on the Ford Government to address ongoing issues of overcrowded classrooms, lack of resources for our most vulnerable children, health and safety concerns affecting attendance and in-class learning, and the impact cuts to public education have had on our school system.. All media are welcome to attend.
“Ontario is a pivotal moment,” said Dusenbury. “On Federation Day, ETT members will call on the Ford Government to invest in Ontario’s schools, its students, and its future. I’m glad that S&F will be there to help provide the megaphone.”
