Canadian Labour International Film Festival Opens its 2022 Season with New Website Launch by Smoke & Felt
(TORONTO, ONTARIO) – Smoke & Felt is thrilled to partner with the Canadian Labour International Film Festival (CLiFF) on the design, development, and launch of its new website, LabourFilms.ca. S&F developed the new website for the organization ahead of opening film submissions for its upcoming festival later this year.
“I’m so excited that the Canadian Labour International Film Festival has chosen to partner with Smoke & Felt for its needs,” said Matt Dusenbury, founder of the creative communications firm. “CLiFF is a wonderful platform for films made by, for, and about the world of work and those who do it across Canada and around the world. I’m ecstatic CLiFF selected S&F to help spread its message and connect with filmmakers and audiences more deeply to tell these important stories.”
The Canadian Labour International Film Festival is a publicly attended film festival that operates at a national level. Composed of community, social justice, and trade union activists, the CLiFF founding committee worked for two years before making the festival’s debut across Canada. The first iteration of CLiFF was held in 2009 in nine provinces and all three Canadian territories – completely free. More than 40 locations across the country participated in CLiFF during its inaugural year, making it one of the more remarkable appearances of a film festival anywhere in the world. Since then, the organization continues to provide a national and international platform to show and showcase the stories of workers..
“Smoke & Felt knocked our socks off!” said Frank Saptel, the founder of CLiFF. “S&F’s attention to detail and ability to deliver a brand new and modern experience to our visitors is invaluable as our organization moves into the 2022 season.”
Working with CLiFF, Smoke & Felt has revitalized the festival’s web offerings to deliver renewed value to filmmakers, hosts, and audiences alike. The new CLiFF experience gives visitors multiple avenues to engage with the organization, its platform, and the content it offers, bringing greater community attention to labour films that represent stories deserving wider attention and discussion.
“As a creative firm founded to help progressive organizations tell their stories in forward-thinking ways, working with CLiFF has been a wonderful experience,” said Dusenbury. “With this renewed virtual home, the festival can continue to promote these important stories from the perspective of working people, expand its reach across Canada, and offer new and delightful experiences to members and audiences who wish to participate in the conversation.”
